Learning Progress

Learn how Wöör helps you track your learning progress

In Wöör, every word you collect is added to a smart learning system based on spaced repetition and progressive difficulty. You don’t have to track or plan anything — your progress is managed automatically through structured review steps.

How progress is structured

Progress in Wöör is organized into:

  • Lists – your collections of words
  • Exercise groups – review units inside each list
  • Steps – smaller learning stages within each group
  • Deck chart – shows how well you’ve learned each word over time

You work through words step-by-step, gradually moving them from new to familiar to mastered.

How learning progress happens

  • Each group guides you through a specific set of exercises. Each group consists of 3 steps
  • You complete steps in order — the next one unlocks only after you finish the current one
  • You progress a word by answering correctly during exercises
  • If you answer incorrectly, that word stays in the current step until you get it right
  • Once all words in the group are learned, the next group unlocks

Tip: The first 3 groups are available immediately. Later groups unlock over time using a cooldown — 3 days, 7 days, or 15 days — to help long-term memory.

What affects your progress

  • You can only progress words in the current and groups below the one you selected to exercise with
  • When you choose a group to exercise with, and there are less than 15 words in it, Wöör pick us words from another groups
  • Steps and groups are locked until you finish all words in the previous one

This structure helps you stay focused and avoid skipping ahead before you’ve fully learned the earlier material.

How exercises are chosen per step

Each step includes a mix of exercise types (flashcard, reverse flashcard, multiple choice, typing). The ratio changes as you go deeper, e.g.:

  • Step 1: 80% flashcard, 10% reverse flashcard, 10% multiple choice
  • Step 2: 10% reverse flashcard, 80% multiple choice, 10% typing
  • Step 3: 33% multiple choice, 67% typing

Wöör automatically selects which words to review based on:

  • Your weakest words first
  • Words you haven’t learned yet
  • Previously learned words (only if needed to fill a session)

Where to see your progress

Your progress is shown on the lists themselves and in the deck chart:

  • Deck chart gives an overview of progress across all lists in your vocabulary
  • Your groups and steps give you overview of progress within a list

Wöör’s progress system compares to other apps

  • Wöör: Tracks how well you remember each specific word meaning using spaced repetition and visual progress charts; cooldowns help reinforce long-term memory.
  • Anki: Uses spaced repetition with adjustable intervals, but progress is managed at the card level and requires manual setup and maintenance.
  • Quizlet: Offers basic tracking within sets and learning reminders, but progress is less personalized and not tied to specific word meanings.
  • Vocabulary: Focuses on daily word exposure and streaks but doesn’t track how well individual words are learned or remembered over time.
  • WordUp: Uses smart review based on memory strength, but doesn’t provide structured progress groups or manual review controls.

Summary: Key points about learning progress in Wöör

  • Words move through steps inside exercise groups in your lists
  • You unlock new steps and groups as you complete earlier ones
  • Cooldowns after each group help space your review over time
  • Progress only counts when practicing the active group
  • Exercises get harder as you move forward, helping long-term memory
  • Your overall progress appears in a deck chart inside each list
