Exercise to Learn

Learn how Wöör helps you remember vocabulary with short, focused exercises

Wöör helps you remember vocabulary with short, focused exercises. Each word you collect is automatically added to your review program — no setup needed. The exercises are based on the exact meaning you've selected for the word and follow a spaced repetition logic.

What kinds of exercises does Wöör use?

Wöör currently includes four types of exercises:

  1. Flashcard – See a word and recall the meaning
  1. Reverse Flashcard – See the meaning and choose the word
  1. Multiple Choice – Pick the correct word or meaning from several options
  1. Typing – Type the correct word from memory based on its meaning

These exercises are designed to test both recognition and recall. All of them are quick and repeatable, taking just a few minutes per session.

How each exercise works

Flashcard and reverse flashcard

You see a word and try to recall its meaning.

  • Tap to flip the card and see the correct meaning
  • Then choose: Remembered or Didn't remember
  • If you remembered correctly, you'll get a short message and move on
  • If not, you’ll be shown word details with an option to try again later

Multiple Choice

You choose the right word or meaning from a set of options.

  • Immediate feedback: success or correction

Typing

You type the word that matches the given meaning.

  • If your answer is correct: short success message
  • If wrong: we show your input, cross it out, and display the correct answer

Tip: on the results state of every exercises you can click Word details to see details about a meaning and how it is used.

What happens after an exercise?

After each word:

  • You get instant feedback
  • You can view full Word Details (translation, part of speech, examples, etc.)

At the end of the session:

  • You’ll see a progress summary
  • Wöör will show how many words you got right and suggest what to review again
  • If all words are reviewed, the session ends with a completion message

You can also:

  • Return to the word list
  • See which words were remembered or forgotten

Why it matters

Exercises in Wöör are designed to:

  • Reinforce words through different exercises of progressive difficulty
  • Make sure you learn word meaning but not an exercise itself
  • Focus on one specific meaning at a time
  • Adapt based on whether you remembered a word or not
  • Keep sessions short and effective

They’re especially helpful for building strong, context-aware memory — whether you're learning everyday English, exam vocabulary, or professional terms.

How Wöör’s exercises compare to other apps

  • Wöör: Exercises are automatically created for each word based on the selected meaning, with four modes (flashcard, reverse, multiple choice, typing) and spaced repetition.
  • Anki: Review depends on user-created cards and manual scheduling; requires setup of flashcard content and formats.
  • Quizlet: Offers flashcards and games, but exercises aren’t tied to specific meanings unless manually set up by the user.
  • Vocabulary: Focuses on daily word exposure and passive recognition; no structured exercises or tracking of what you remember.
  • WordUp: Uses smart review based on memory strength, but doesn’t provide structured progress groups or manual review controls.
