Learn how to choose a language you learn and language for translations in Wöör.
Wöör lets you personalize your experience by selecting:
- A language you want to learn (your target language)
- A translation language (your support language)
This helps Wöör show you meanings, translations, and examples that match your learning goals and make it easier to understand new vocabulary.
What’s the difference?
- Target language is the language you're trying to learn — for example, English. All the words, definitions, and examples in your vocabulary will be in this language.
- Translation language is the language you speak and use to understand explanations — for example, Spanish or Ukrainian. It’s used to show word meanings in a way that makes sense to you.
You’ll choose both during onboarding when you first start using Wöör, and you can change them later in settings.
What languages you can learn with Wöör?
At the moment, Wöör main supports learning of English.
For English we support 22 translation languages: Arabic, Belarusian, Bengali, Filipino, French, German, Hausa, Hindi, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Chinese, Portuguese, Punjabi, Russian, Spanish, Thai, Turkish, Ukrainian, Vietnamese.
Wöör also offers early access to Spanish, but its dictionary is still quite basic, with no word forms and only a few pronunciations.
Please bear with the early Spanish version. We'd love your feedback on what works and what could be improved.
How to choose your languages
When you first open Wöör:
- You’ll be asked to select the language you want to learn
- Next, you’ll choose your translation language
- Wöör will then adjust content, translations, and word suggestions based on your choices

From the language menu:
- Go to Vocabulary screen
- In the top left corner click button that names your current target language, e.g. English
- Choose a different target or translation language
